Behind the Scenes of "My Great Story"

The My Great Story website was created by York & ChapelNDSS has taken it one step further and turned two great stories into a national public service announcement (PSA), featuring the great stories of Sujeet Desai, The Traveler and Sara Wolff, The Public Speaker, featured below. These PSA's will be featured in national and local media outlets across the country this fall, as well as high profile websites. These dynamic print ads were shot by renowned photographer, Zachary Scott. The ad creative was developed pro-bono by Pedone Media.

My Great Story - Sujeet Desai, The Traveler

My name is Sujeet Desai. I am 28 years old. I am a musician and a self-advocate. I play six instruments. I travel around the world playing my music and also speaking about "My Story". Since 1997, when I started performing, I've traveled to 38 states in US and 11 countries.

When I was invited by the National Down Syndrome Society to be a part of "My great story" I was surprised because I have always been recognized for my musical talents, not my travel knowledge. Along the way I realized that my music has given me the confidence and the self esteem to stand in front of thousands of people all across the world. Traveling around the word is very educational, from the minute you decide to take a trip until the moment you return home.

I've traveled by air in planes, on water by boats and on road by trains & cars.

My Great Story - Sara Wolff, The Public Speaker

My name is Sara Wolff. I am 24 years old and My Great Story is about my Public Speaking.

I'd first like to share a little bit about myself with you. I definitely have something unique about me-and that is an extra 21st chromosome, called Down syndrome...which, by the way, has never stopped me from doing anything!

I don't think of myself as having "DOWN" syndrome but "UP" syndrome because I am an upbeat and positive person. I have been raised with the motto "Never" say "Never" and the words "I can't" don't exist.

"Inclusion" began the moment I was born. My family included me in everything they did. I was fortunate to have parents who believed in me. I was a fully included student from pre-school through high school graduation, and college.
